How to setup HubSpot property groups (super easy video tutorial)

As HubSpot's Deanna Schwarz reminded us during a recent episode of the HubHeroes podcast, data hygiene is one of the most mission-critical factors that will determine your success (or failure) with HubSpot for your business.

That's right! Unsexy as the idea may sound, if you haven't already, you need to make the cleanliness of your HubSpot portal a top priority — a New Year's resolution, if you will!

What's the easiest and most powerful way to get started on your HubSpot pre-spring cleaning? Setting up property groups to add a whole new level of streamlined organization to your HubSpot contact, company, and deal data.

Now, before you start digging around and clicking lots of buttons in your portal trying to figure out what can seem like a very complex clean-up task at first, I want you to watch this tutorial. Because HubSpot is a lot like a library.

HubSpot is your data library

Think about a library for a moment. Inside a library, you'll find thousands of books — nonfiction, mysteries, romance, science, self-help, the classics, encyclopedias, bestselling fiction ... you name it, your local library has it!

However, all of those different books aren't shelved haphazardly without any sort of organization. They're broken out into different sections, based on different book types (i.e., nonfiction vs. fiction, mystery vs. poetry). And within those sections, you'll potentially find even further subsets of organization, like books being shelved in alphabetical order by the author's last name.

Could you imagine if your local library lacked that kind of organization? If all of those thousands of books were shelved in a completely arbitrary way, with no rhyme or reason as to which ones were stored where? Sure, you might find pockets of books where it's clear someone tried to implement some sort of organization ... but still ... whew, no one would go to this kind of library, right?

Is your HubSpot data library a mess?

This is the kind of mindset I want you to start applying to HubSpot. When you don't go out of your way to organize your HubSpot portal property data with tools like groups, you have a library where it's impossible to find everything. Sure, you can access the data you need, but you'll always feel more friction in everything you're trying to do.

In less than 10 minutes, I'll teach you how to become a master of HubSpot property group organization. That way you can get the most out of your HubSpot investment with data that is clean and streamlined. Trust me, this doesn't sound that exciting, but this will be the best 10 minutes you've spent all day.
