HubSpot Updates

Breeze Is Eating HubSpot: What the April 2026 Updates Actually Mean

April 17, 2026

HubSpot Latest Updates Live with George B. Thomas and Chris Carolan, Watch the full live breakdown. Read on for the uncomfortable truth we didn't get to unpack on air.

HubSpot shipped a pile of updates this month, and almost every single one threads through Breeze. That's the story.

If you're a HubSpot admin, a RevOps lead, or the one human on your team who's quietly holding the whole portal together, here's the short version: Breeze isn't a bolt-on anymore. It's becoming the primary surface. Reports, calculation properties, emails, tasks, prospecting, customer support. You're going to talk to Breeze to do the work. And if your data model is a mess, that conversation's going to go badly.

We covered 9 updates on the live show with Chris Carolan this week. Rather than walk you through them in the order HubSpot released them, here's what they actually mean grouped by the job they do in your portal, plus the one thing we didn't have time to say on the air.

Key Takeaway

Nearly every major HubSpot update this release threads through Breeze. If your data model is messy or your activity feed is fragmented, Breeze context will degrade. Admins who haven't invested in AI data sources are falling behind.

Breeze Gets Smarter: Reports, Calculations, and Emails

Three updates this release turn Breeze Assistant into something much closer to a real admin partner instead of a sidekick that only handles marketing copy.

Create Report With AI in Breeze Assistant

You can now pick Create Report With AI from the reporting page, open Breeze Assistant, and build a report through chat. You can jump into the full report builder at any point to keep iterating.

If reporting has been your Achilles heel, this is the update that removes the excuse. The bigger play is subtle though. Chris called it out on the show: because Breeze has context, you can build a report, then your teammate can pick up that same thread and add the variable you missed. That's team iteration without the team knowing it's iterating.

Create Calculation Properties Using Breeze (Public Beta)

Breeze can now turn a plain-language prompt into a calculated property formula. Custom equations, time since, time until, time between. You describe what you want to measure. Breeze writes the expression.

Calculated properties are powerful, but the formula syntax intimidates anyone who doesn't work with them every day. This lowers the barrier, reduces mistakes, and lets admins focus on what they want to measure instead of how to write it.

Write and Send Emails in Breeze Assistant (All Hubs, All Tiers)

This one's the sleeper. Breeze Assistant can now draft, refine, and send one-to-one emails or replies directly from CRM records. It pulls from CRM data, past email conversations, and available templates, and it inserts the result into the composer with every field pre-filled.

Email hasn't had a real workflow update since the internet was born. Most reps gather context, iterate on drafts, then finish sending somewhere else. This closes the loop. If it works the way the demo suggests, you're looking at seconds instead of minutes per reply. Across a sales team, that's hours a week.

Available on all hubs, all tiers. Read that sentence again.

Breeze isn't getting bolted onto HubSpot anymore. Breeze is becoming the surface you talk to HubSpot through.

The Task and Project Layer Grows Up

For years, projects and tasks in HubSpot have been the poor stepchildren of the CRM. That ends this release. If you've been doing project work inside deal pipelines with 20 stages because you didn't have a better option, stop.

Invoice to Project Association

Customers can now associate invoices and projects in both directions. Link invoices from a project, or link one or more projects from an invoice.

Here's what this actually unlocks: you can finally track billings at the project level, understand which invoices map to which work, and report on invoiced versus non-invoiced work with real confidence. If you've been stretching deal stages to represent project phases and billing milestones, you don't have to anymore. Architect this the right way and a whole class of reporting nightmares disappears.

Subtasks, Custom Task Properties, and the Task App Rebuilt on CRM Framework

Three changes that land together, and Chris was genuinely baffled this didn't get a Major Update banner. You can now:

  • Break tasks into subtasks so complex work has a structure instead of a single checkbox.
  • Create custom properties for tasks to capture the specific data your team needs.
  • Customize which properties appear on the task creation form so nothing critical gets skipped.

The rebuild on the CRM framework is the move. Tasks now behave like contacts, deals, and companies. Same views, same filtering, same grouping. You can finally manage task work the way you manage the rest of the CRM instead of treating it like a separate universe with its own weird rules.

Assign Tasks to Customers (Beta)

You can now assign a task directly to a customer and specify which contact at their company is responsible for completing it. Service delivery almost always requires work from both sides. Until now, HubSpot tasks could only track the work on your side.

This update sets the foundation for the next layer: your clients will eventually be able to access and manage those tasks themselves. Which leads directly into...

Customer Success Rooms (Beta)

Customers and customer success humans get a shared collaborative workspace to track project tasks, documents, and status updates in one place. Success rooms auto-create based on deal close.

Stack these three together (assign tasks to customers, subtasks, customer success rooms) and the picture gets clear. HubSpot is building the entire post-sale delivery layer natively. For agencies that have been bolting on ClickUp or Asana for client-facing project work, this is the update that makes you ask whether you still need the second tool.

Agents Get Teeth: IVR, Multi-Brand, and a Daily Digest

The Breeze agents aren't demos anymore. This release gives them the features they needed to be real deployments.

Customer Agent Handles Front-Office Conversations (With Lead Qualification)

Customer Agent got a major upgrade. It now handles all your front-office traffic: qualifying prospects, adding them to the CRM, and booking meetings with your sales team. The navigation got redesigned. The lead qualification action moved.

If you've been sleeping on Customer Agent, knock it off. We spent half a day nerding out on this at the agency and walked away with three use cases we hadn't considered.

Transfer Calls From Customer Agent to IVR

Customer Agent can now transfer calls to your existing IVR system when it can't resolve an issue. This is the bridge update. AI handles what it can. Your human team handles what it can't. No more binary choice between deflection and escalation.

Customer Agent Supports Multiple Brands

If you run more than one brand, or what HubSpot historically called business units, Customer Agent now supports all of them. Go flip that switch if it applies to you.

Prospecting Agent Daily Digest Email

Prospecting Agent drafts the outreach. But drafts sitting in the Sales Workspace are easy to miss. The daily digest brings pending drafts to your inbox with direct links to review and approve.

Sales Hub Professional and Enterprise only. If you're on Starter, this is the upgrade conversation.

The Uncomfortable Truth We Didn't Get to Cover on Air

Here's what Chris said on the show that I want to underline.

Because Breeze is looking at previous email conversations, if your activity feed is fragmented, if emails are sitting on the wrong records, the quality of Breeze's help degrades.
Chris Carolan

Every one of these Breeze updates, every agent, every auto-draft, every AI-generated calculation property, is only as smart as the data and context you've given it. If your activity feed is messy, your associations are stale, or your custom properties are undocumented, Breeze is going to pull from the wrong places. Confidently. And you won't know until a customer gets the wrong answer.

This is the part most teams are skipping. Before you enable any of the betas in this release, open Settings, then AI, then Data Sources. If you haven't been in there since last year, you don't know what you don't know. There are now buyer and seller sections that admins should be filling out. There are new configuration surfaces that weren't there six months ago. These aren't cosmetic. They're how Breeze knows your business.

Garbage in, garbage out has always been true for reporting. Now it's true for every single Breeze feature you touch. The admins who invested in clean data models over the last 18 months are about to look like geniuses. The ones who didn't are about to look exposed.

Key Takeaway

Every Breeze feature is only as smart as your data model. Clean associations, documented properties, and filled-out AI Data Sources are now the prerequisite for getting value out of HubSpot, not a nice-to-have.

Two More That Deserve Your Attention

Embed HubSpot Videos on Any CMS or External Email

This one's personal. We recently moved sidekickstrategies.com off HubSpot CMS onto Next.js, which meant giving up native HubSpot video analytics. This update fixes that. You can now embed HubSpot-hosted videos on any external CMS (Shopify, WordPress, Sanity) using a responsive snippet, and embed them in emails sent through external platforms. All the view, play, and engagement data flows back to HubSpot.

For anyone who's been forced to choose between the best publishing platform and the best analytics, you don't have to anymore.

AI Video Clip Agent Suggestions in Video Library

The video clip agent now lives inside the HubSpot video library as an AI Suggestions tab. Every week it scans your library against trending topics in your industry, identifies the three most relevant clips, and hands them to you ready to post. If no strong trending matches exist, it pulls from your three most recently uploaded long-form videos.

Between this and the new Create Video Clips and Post in Social Tool feature (AI-suggested clips directly in the social composer, with AI-generated captions), HubSpot just did to short-form video what it did to email: closed the loop. If you've been paying for Opus or a dedicated clip tool, this is the renewal conversation you need to have with yourself.

What to Actually Do This Week

You can't act on 9 betas at once. Pick in order.

1. Audit your AI Data Sources. Settings, AI, Data Sources. Fill out the buyer and seller sections. This is the prerequisite for everything else in this release delivering value.

2. Try Breeze for one real admin task. Build a report through chat. Write a calculated property through chat. Draft an email through chat. Don't just read about it. The value only shows up when you've used it on your own data.

3. Decide on tasks and projects. If you've been building project work inside deal pipelines, the new task properties, subtasks, CRM framework, and customer success rooms give you a cleaner architecture. But only if you map it intentionally. Don't migrate accidentally.

4. Audit your activity feed hygiene. Before you enable email drafting in Breeze, check that the right emails are on the right records. Unassociate anything that shouldn't be there. Breeze will thank you by being useful instead of confidently wrong.

FAQ: April 2026 HubSpot Updates

What's the biggest HubSpot update in April 2026?

The biggest change isn't a single feature. It's that Breeze Assistant moved from an add-on to the primary surface for admin work. You can now build reports, create calculation properties, and draft emails entirely in conversation, and write-and-send email is available on all hubs, all tiers. The individual updates matter. The pattern matters more.

Is Breeze reliable enough to trust with real admin work?

Short answer: yes, if your data is clean. Breeze pulls from CRM records, past conversations, and your configured AI Data Sources. If those are organized and current, the output is impressive. If your activity feed is fragmented or associations are stale, quality degrades fast. Start by auditing Settings, AI, Data Sources before you rely on Breeze for anything customer-facing.

Do I need a specific Hub or tier to use these updates?

It depends on the feature. Write and Send Emails in Breeze Assistant is available on all hubs, all tiers. Prospecting Agent Daily Digest requires Sales Hub Professional or Enterprise. AEO lives in Marketing Hub (and as a standalone product). Tags on Dashboards is Professional and Enterprise. Most betas require opt-in. Check the specific update in HubSpot's product updates feed for current availability.

Should I move my project management into HubSpot now?

You can, but don't do it accidentally. The combination of subtasks, custom task properties, the new CRM framework for tasks, invoice-to-project associations, and customer success rooms is genuinely competitive with dedicated project tools for HubSpot-native delivery work. The question isn't whether HubSpot can do it. The question is whether your data model is architected to carry that load without creating new problems. Map first, migrate second.

What's the one thing I should do before enabling any of these betas?

Fill out your AI Data Sources. Settings, then AI, then Data Sources. Both the buyer section and the seller section, completely. Every Breeze feature in this release pulls from these. If they're empty or stale, every AI-generated report, email, and property will be worse than it needs to be.
