How to Automate Deal Creation From HubSpot Payment Links
How to Automate Deal Creation From HubSpot Payment Links

Here's the thing: when someone pays through a HubSpot payment link, you want that transaction to flow directly into your sales pipeline. Manually creating deals is tedious, error-prone, and frankly, a waste of your team's time. The good news? HubSpot's got you covered with automatic deal creation that works right out of the box.

Imagine this scenario: a prospect checks out on your payment link, completes their purchase, and boom, a deal automatically appears in your pipeline at exactly the stage you've configured. That's the kind of efficiency that lets your team focus on what actually matters, closing more business.

Setting Up Auto-Generated Deals: Step by Step

Here's how to get this working in your HubSpot account right now.

  1. Head to your Sales Hub and hover over the Sales tab
  2. Click on Payments, then Payment Links
  3. Find the specific payment link you want to configure (maybe it's your Premier SEO subscription or onboarding package)
  1. Select the payment link you want to edit
  2. Click the Actions button
  3. Choose Edit

Step 3: Enable Auto Deal Creation

  1. Click on the Settings tab in the middle of the page
  2. Look for the toggle that says "Allow this link to create new deals when a customer pays"
  3. Turn it on

This toggle is your golden ticket. When it's enabled, HubSpot will automatically create a new deal whenever someone completes a payment through that link. If a deal already exists for that contact, the payment information displays on the associated deal instead.

Step 4: Choose Your Pipeline and Stage

  1. After enabling the toggle, you'll see dropdown options for Pipeline and Stage
  2. Select which pipeline this deal should be created in (most often your default sales pipeline)
  3. Select which stage the deal should start in (hint: if money's coming in, "Closed Won" is usually the right call)

This is important. Since you're getting paid through this link, you're looking at actual revenue coming through the door. Pick the stage that reflects that reality. Your demo sales pipeline's "Closed Won" stage might be perfect, or you might have a custom stage that works better for your business.

Step 5: Save Your Changes

  1. Hit the Save button in the top right corner
  2. You're done

What Happens Next

Once you've saved these settings, every human who pays through that payment link will automatically trigger a new deal creation (or update an existing one if they're already in your system). Your pipeline stays current, your sales data stays accurate, and your team stays focused on actually selling.

The best part? This works seamlessly with your existing HubSpot workflows and reporting. You'll see the full picture of your revenue right there in your deals pipeline.

The Bottom Line

Education matters, but execution is where the real magic happens. Go into your HubSpot account today, find one of your payment links, and toggle on automatic deal creation. Your future self and your sales team will thank you for the time you just saved.
