Why CTAs Matter In Your HubSpot Strategy
Here's the thing: CTAs aren't just pretty buttons. They're your tracking powerhouses. When you create a consistent CTA and deploy it across multiple HubSpot assets, you're building a single source of truth for attribution and performance data. Whether it's landing pages, emails, or blog articles, one CTA gives you clear visibility into how humans engage with your content and which campaigns actually drive action.
That's why we're breaking down exactly how to set one up. It's easier than you think.
Setting Up Your First HubSpot CTA
Step 1: Navigate To The CTA Section
Log into your HubSpot portal and head to Marketing, then Lead Capture, then CTAs. This is your command center for all things call-to-action.
Step 2: Create Your CTA From Scratch
Hit the Create CTA button. You'll see template options, but we're going to start from scratch so you understand every piece. Choose the Embedded Button format, which gives you flexibility across your digital properties.
Step 3: Add Your Link
Paste the URL you want your CTA to direct humans to. In our example, it's a sales enablement course. Make sure to check the option to open the link in a new tab. This keeps humans engaged without losing your original page.
Step 4: Write Compelling Button Text
This is where your CTA comes to life. Use action-oriented language that's clear and specific. "Get The Sales Enablement Course" beats generic text like "Learn More" every single time.
Step 5: Style Your CTA
Click into the Styles tab and make your CTA visually stand out. Make the text bold so it commands attention. Choose a background color that contrasts with your page. We went with red because it pops, but pick whatever aligns with your brand.
Step 6: Name It Strategically
Give your CTA a clear, descriptive name like "CTA Sales Enablement Course." This makes it super easy to identify later when you're reviewing performance data.
Step 7: Assign To A Campaign
Head to the Options tab and assign your CTA to a campaign if you want. This step's optional, but it's how you'll connect clicks back to specific marketing efforts. If you're running a welcome campaign, assign it there.
Step 8: Review And Publish
Hit Review and Publish. You're done. Your CTA is now live and ready to be embedded anywhere in your HubSpot ecosystem.
What Happens After You Publish
Here's where it gets good. Once your CTA's live, you can see exactly what's happening with it. HubSpot tracks every interaction, every click, and gives you metrics on click rates and performance based on where the CTA's placed. You'll know if humans are engaging more on your blog versus your landing pages. You'll see which campaigns are driving the most action.
That's attribution in action. That's data-driven marketing.
The Real Benefit: Consistency And Tracking
The magic happens when you use that same CTA across multiple assets. A blog post links to it. An email mentions it. A landing page features it. Now you've got one unified data stream showing you exactly how humans move through your funnel. You're not wondering if your sales enablement content's actually working. You know.
That's the power of getting your CTAs right from the start.
