Why You Need Deal Stage Visibility on Contact Records
Here's the thing: when you're working with a contact in HubSpot, you want all the context you need right there in front of you. That's where a deal stage tracker comes in handy. Instead of bouncing between different records, you'll see exactly which deal stage that contact's associated with, what the deal amount is, and when it's supposed to close. It's about making your sales team more efficient and keeping the important stuff visible.
How to Add a Deal Stage Tracker to Your Contact Records
Let's walk through this step by step. We're going to customize your contact record layout to include a deal stage tracker card. It's easier than you think.
Step 1: Access Your Settings
- Log into HubSpot and click the gear icon in the top right corner
- From the left sidebar, scroll down to Objects
- Select Contacts
Step 2: Edit Your Contact Record Layout
- Click on the Record Customization tab
- Find and click on Edit next to your Default View
- You'll see the layout for your contact records
Step 3: Add a New Card
- Hover over the space in the middle column, right between the highlighted card and the Overview tab
- You'll see a blue/green plus icon appear
- Click that plus icon to add a card
Step 4: Configure Your Deal Stage Tracker
- On the right side, look for the Association Stage Tracker option
- Select it and click Create Card
- Rename the card to Deal Stage Tracker (or whatever label works for your team)
- In the Object Type dropdown, select Deals
- Leave the properties settings as they are (HubSpot will show the most relevant ones)
- Click Create Card to confirm
Step 5: Save and Exit
- Click Save and Exit in the top right corner
- You're done
What You'll See Now
When you open any contact record that's associated with a deal, you'll now see your deal stage tracker card in the overview section. It's going to display key deal information at a glance, including the deal stage, amount, close date, next step, and last activity date. This means your team gets instant visibility into where deals stand without having to dig around.
The Real Benefit
This might seem like a small change, but it's the kind of thing that speeds up your sales process. Your reps can see everything they need to know about a contact's deals without switching tabs or jumping between records. Better context leads to better conversations and faster deals.
Remember, education is great, but execution is where the magic happens. Set this up today and watch how it changes your team's workflow.
